About Us

Not long ago Marghanita Hughes watched her children at one with nature. They chased
large swallow-tailed butterflies and bright blue flighty dragonflies in the back yard. She
and her partner/husband David, along with their three children, Jasmine, David and Samuel,
became concerned about the destruction towards Mother Nature and the lovely butterflies
and dragonflies.

Marghanita was compelled to use her illustrative work to raise awareness among children
about how global warming affects the environment. She knew the importance in having
children understand and participate in reducing the harmful effects we have on our planet
and all that inhabit it.

Shortly thereafter Butterfly Girls and Dragonfly Boys came to be the Little Humbugs. Mother
Nature needed help and the Little Humbugs collectible educational dolls and book series was
the perfect way to get children and parents involved.

And so the journey began...

Marghanita and David began their journey through their Design company, Wildwood Media.

First came an educational website using Marghanita’s engaging illustrations to introduce kids to the Little Humbugs world and discover simple ways to help Mother Nature. Next, the first paperback novel in the Little Humbugs book series was created.

Books are printed on post consumer waste paper and printed locally to keep the carbon
footprint to a minimum.

Bringing the book characters to life in doll form was something Marghanita felt strongly
about. These high quality dolls are a true representation of the book characters.
The dolls encourage skills such as imaginative play and learning the importance of
the natural world, which are necessary foundations for a child’s emotional and
intellectual development.

When you instill a love of nature in a child - they will protect it.
